But one thing about leather seats is that it takes a lot of maintenance to make sure that they look good and feel good. Usually, if you don’t take care of your leather seats they will start to develop cracks and fade here and there from the usage and the UV rays.
You should be vacuuming your leather seats to make sure you remove any type of dirt or debris out of them. If you have had someone eat in your car then chances are that they have dropped crumbles of food that accumulate at the end of the seats. Make sure you vacuum even the tightest parts of your seats. This way you will be sure that every single piece of dirt is removed from them for good.
Apply Leather Cleaner
Make sure to get good leather cleaner before you start applying anything. If you get a cheap one chances are you will most likely ruin your leather seats then cleaning them. Apply your leather cleaner at the spots where the seats are more damaged. The leather cleaner usually has a protective and restoring effect on the cracks that the leather seats have developed usually from the heat. Apply the cleaner with a smooth and clean cloth and make sure to not apply too much pressure on the seats since the leather is delicate.
Once you are done cleaning your leather seats, you should then wipe them to make sure you remove all the moisture out of them. You should wipe dry the leather seats right after cleaning them. Even after wiping the leather will feel damp on the touch. This happens when the leather has not been coated. Usually, you should also let the leather dry even after wiping them and the drying process can take up to 24 hours maximum.
Apply Leather Conditioner and Wipe
Most people are satisfied with only cleaning the leather with a cleaner and that’s it. The process must take much more dedication and investment if you want your car to look and feel amazing. To do full maintenance of the leather then you should apply a leather conditioner. Spread the leather conditioner evenly on the leather seats. Make sure you have covered every part possible. This way you are protecting your leather from future cracks and against UV rays. Once you are done applying the conditioner then you want to give it up to six hours to dry out. This is done to make sure that the leather has absorbed properly the conditioner. After that, you want to wipe dry the leather seats again and then leave them for another 24 hours. By the end of the whole process, you must be ready and your car will look as good as new.
