Ozone Treatment

vacuum cleaner interior car
Ozone treatment is done to remove any bad or awful smell, bacteria or viruses from your car. With the passage of time and the usage of the car, a bad smell can develop. Or an unpleasant episode maybe caused the bad smell, like your dog taking a no-no inside your car which can leave an awful smell. You must do the Ozone treatment for the sake of your health and also for aesthetic purposes. Nobody wants to get in a car that smells like gasoline mixed with trash.

Preparing
You start preparing the interior by cleaning up whatever physical trash is inside. Whether that is feces or a dead animal or rotten pieces of food, you have to make sure to get them all out. Once you are done taking them out then you want to use a normal detergent to clean the carpet and the upholstery. The reason for this preparation is that you don’t want to spend any money on Ozone treatment and leave the same source of the smell there.

Set the Generator
Once you have cleaned the car then you are ready for the generator. There are two ways of setting the generator. One is inside the car and the other way is outside the car. Most of the Ozone generators are set inside of the car, usually in the passenger’s seat with the extension cord coming out of the slightly opened window. For the generators that are placed outside the gas passes through a pipe that goes inside the car through the slightly opened window. You want to seal the rest of the windows with foam to not let the gas go out.

Ozone Treatment
This is the part where you are going to be using the air conditioner of the car to get out of the bad smell. You want to turn on the air conditioner once or twice on a 15 minutes interval during the Ozone treatment. This is done to make sure that the smell and bacteria stuck on the gas goes out through the ventilation. In case the smell comes from the ventilation then you make sure to turn on the ventilation before starting the Ozone treatment. How much does the process last? It depends on the intensity of the smell plus the size of the car.

After Treatment
After the Ozone treatment, a different type of smell is going to be inside your car. This is not a bad smell and it doesn’t last for long. It is known as the residual Ozone smell and it is normal. It comes from the fact that the byproducts of Ozone are stuck in the carpets or textiles of the seats. To remove this smell you can ride your car with windows open and leave it parked with windows open. You can also wipe the seats and dashboard with a damp cloth or you can vacuum the seats and the carpet.
